In the very center of Porto, next to the Passeio das Virtudes park and the Clérigos Tower, is the Cooperativo Artístico Árvore. This is a cooperative of Portuguese artists and one of Porto's main galleries, with a picturesque view of lemon trees, the city, and the river. This year, Árvore selected four artists from among its members and gave them the opportunity to hold solo exhibitions throughout the year. Helen was chosen as one of these artists, and from August 30 to September 20, her solo exhibition “Fluidity” will take place in Hall 3 of Árvore. The exhibition will feature works from various series created over the past three years.

The nature of watercolor — with its unpredictability and fluidity — led me to embrace intuitivity and spontaneity in my process. My understanding of color freed me to experiment, letting go of "overthinking" and "planning", and instead shortening the distance between impulse and brushstroke.

The title FLUIDITY brings together the nature of watercolor — where the movement of water and pigment is never entirely under control — and the nature of time, emotion, and the world we inhabit. It is an illusion to think anything is fixed or stable. ​​​
